Meet the Board

Shaun Sherwood, Treasurer

Treasurer Shaun Sherwood was appointed Deputy Treasurer in 2007 and was elected Treasurer in 2008. Shaun grew up in the Mason area with her five sisters, graduating from Mason High School and becoming a Vevay resident in 1984.
After high school, Shaun received additional education from LCC in business and banking. In 2012, she completed a three-year intensive program to earn the “Michigan Certified Professional Treasurer” certification. She is currently participating in the Townships Governance Academy program through the Michigan Townships Association and other continuing education to retain her certification.
Shaun has over 30 years of work experience in Banking, Real Estate, & Retail business.
She has been married to Don for 39 years and has three daughters and three sons-in-law. Her hobbies include spending time with her five Grandchildren, playing tennis, gardening, and camping all over the state with her family.

 
JoAnne Kean, Clerk

JoAnne Kean was elected Clerk in 2010. She was born in Corsicana Texas, the eighth of ten children, and moved to Michigan in 1971. She has been a Vevay Township resident since 2002.
JoAnne completed a three-year intensive course to earn the “Certified Michigan Municipal Clerk” certification in 2014 and continues to participate in ongoing education from the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks to retain her certification. She currently serves as Ingham County Director of the Capital Area Municipal Clerks Association and Secretary for the Ingham County Chapter of the Michigan Townships Association.
JoAnne worked for Ingham County in the Human Resources and Health Department for ten years before joining the Vevay Township Clerk’s office.
When JoAnne is not at the Township, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She enjoys taking speedy golf cart rides with her son on their property, tailgating at MSU football games with her husband, and keeping up-to-date on the latest Star Wars news with her daughter.

 
Jesse Ramey, Supervisor

Jesse Ramey was appointed Supervisor in 2015 and elected in 2016. He has lived in the Mason area since 1976 and has been a Vevay Township resident since 2000. Jesse is also an active member of American Legion Post 148 where he volunteers on a team that renders honors at Veterans’ funerals.
Jesse served in the US Army from 1966-69, spending 1967-68 in Vietnam. He earned his Master’s degree in Industrial Education from Michigan State University in 1974 and taught vocationally for six years. For 22 years, Jesse owned and operated an electronics business in Mason.
Jesse has been married to his wife for 50 years with whom he has three children and six grandchildren. When Jesse is not working, he enjoys woodworking, reading, and attending his grandchildrens’ school and sporting events.

 
Richard Lacasse, Trustee

Richard Lacasse was elected Trustee in November 2016. He has been a Vevay Township resident for over 11 years. He also currently serves on both the Vevay Township Board of Review and Planning Commission
Richard holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Northern Michigan University as well as a Juris Doctor and Master of Law Degree from the Missouri School of Law. During his prestigious career, Richard has worked as a land resource planner and a Michigan Administrative Law Judge.
In his free time, Richard enjoys gardening, exploring the great outdoors of his birthplace in Michigan’s upper peninsula, and spending time with his two children.

 

John Lazet, Trustee
John Lazet was elected Trustee in November 2016. He has lived in Vevay Township for over thirty years with his wife Laura and two daughters. John also currently serves on the Township’s Planning Commission and previously sat as a member on the Compensation Commission.
John has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in in Administration. In the State Senate, he served as Chief of Staff for five different Senators, working to resolve policy issues and meet constituent needs. He is currently the Director of Crime Victim Advocacy for Michigan’s Attorney General.
